New Research
Appreciating the benefits of engaging a professional, I employed the services of Daniel Peddie a professional genealogist who specializes in genetic analysis and resides in Colorado, USA. Over the last three years, Daniel has immersed himself in our Baumgardt/Flis Tree and has delivered an extremely comprehensive Report. Over 900 new individuals have been added to the Tree plus he has connected living DNA cousins some in Poland and Germany and many in the USA and Canada, to our Tree. So it has been multifaceted: Genealogy, DNA and detailed report writing. Through Skype calls I have been regularly updated with new leads and advances in the project. I have become familiar with the towns and villages that the new additions to the Tree lived in and the new surnames that have been added. Daniel has spent many hundreds of hours on the project, including researching and interpreting church records to extend the Baumgardt Tree. Some of these records have been under our nose, others have taken time to find the location of the website or archive. All are handwritten (more like scribble) in Latin, Polish or German. Online Trees have been used as a hint but treated with caution as most have mistakes. Some online Trees have a sibling of Eva Flis (senior) who they record as “died as a child” but Daniel has been able to dispute this and develop a whole new branch. The new Tree now includes all the siblings of Eva Flis (senior) and their descendants. Eva Flis (senior) is the mother of Eva who married Paul Baumgardt (the only photo we have of Paul and Eva is on the homepage of this website). It also appears that some of our DNA cousins living in the USA and Canada may not know who their family connection was back in Poland, so it will be interesting to share this new research. |
