Paulina Julianna Baumgardt (1872-1912) was baptised in Parchau, (Parchowo, Poland) on 23 June 1872. Soon after, the family left Golzau (Gołczewo) and travelled to Hamburg where they boarded the Palmerston bound for Port Chalmers, Otago, New Zealand.
She was known as Fanny Bangat when she married John Hughan Wells in 1896 at Waihola. The couple had ten children but Fanny died in 1912, four months after her youngest daughter Ada was born. Fanny's death would have left a big gap in the family. John remarried Isabella Edith Campbell.
